Newman’s Own Organics Special Blend Coffee
Who would have thought Paul Newman’s food empire would have grown as much as it has back when he first introduced his salad dressing. A stunning example of a company that tried to do the right thing from day one. Too many celebrities look to put their name on something and hope to gain a monetary value from the sale. Paul Newman just wanted to do something for the community.
Newman’s Own Organics has partnered with Green Mountain Coffee to help product a fine range of organic Fair Trade certified coffees. The Newman’s Special Blend is a blend of medium roasted Central American and dark roasted indonesian coffees. This keeps both the light and dark coffee lovers happy.

Newman’s Own Organics Nells Breakfast Blend Coffee
Nell Newman, daughter of Paul Newman and Joanna Woodward, started the organic division of Newman’s Own and it now includes USDA and Fair Trade certified coffees. Newman’s Own and in turn the organic division shares a similar philosphy with their partner, Green Mountain Coffee in that they strive to ensure the coffee growers from some of the poorer parts of the world receive a fair price for the afforts. they also try to help with other areas of agriculture as evidenced by the help given to the women in Oaxaca, Mexico.
Newman’s Own Organics Nell’s Breakfast Blend is a smooth coffee, obviously suited to early morning drinking. The inclusion of some of the Indonesian coffees helps to give it a distinctive flavour.

Scarborough Fair Organic Fairtrade Coffee
Scarborough Fair Foods was established in 2004 by a New Zealand based food marketing company. They wanted to take a mainstream approach to distributing Fairtrade certified organic coffee rather than the usual method of premium priced low volume products.
Fairtrade is reasonably well know with their logo now on many products globally. Briefly, their mission is to ensure the producers receive a fair price for their products and the flow on from this is better quality of life, clean water, minimum safety standards and no child labour, just to name a few.
The Scarborough Fair organic coffee is sourced from Guatemala, Mexico and Peru. Most of these are based around the co-operative farming model. There are a variety of options with ground roasted, beans and instant. They are then available in a variety of blends using, for example, arabica and robusta beans, with dark roast, medium roast plus others.
Check out the Scarborough Fair website for a list of all the Fairtrade organic coffees.
