Greenworks Natural All Purpose Cleaner
Greenworks is part of the global consumer products company Clorox. Not necessarily known for the environmentally friendly products. It looks like they be moving in the right direction with some of their cleaning products. A partnership with the Sierra Club and with products authorised to carry the EPA‘s Design For The Environment certification logo, Greenworks appears to be serious about their green products.
The Greenworks Natural All Purpose Cleaner, as the name suggests, can be used in many places around the house and works on most dirt, grimes and mess. It is safe for most surfaces, just check the details before use. The natural cleaner is made using plant based ingredients from coconuts, plus essential oils. The website includes details that it is 99.93% natural.
More information and uses at the Greenworks Cleaners website.
Greenworks Natural Bathroom Cleaner
Greenworks is the eco-friendly brand developed in early 2008 byt the household products conglomerate Clorox. Hopefully the culture will permeate into their other product lines that aren’t quite as environmentally friendly.
The Greenworks natural bathroom cleaner is a 99% natural product with plant based ingredients (from coconuts) and lemon essential oil. The remaining one percent is a synthetic preservative that they haven’t been able to replace with a natural version as yet.
Packaging is recyclable and just as importantly, the products are not tested on animals.

Twist bamboo cleaning cloth
Twist is a Boulder, Colorado based company specialising in household cleaning products that replace the need for paper towels and the like. All their products are 100% biodegradable, free of dyes and dishwasher safe (top rack).
Something I haven’t seen before is instructions on their website about how to turn their recyclable packaging into bird feeders. Perhaps more companies can think about other uses for their packaging.
The Twist Bamboo Cleaning Cloth is made from 82% bamboo and 18% corn. Bamboo is one of those fast growing plants that doesn’t require pesticides or fertilizers. It is perfect for so many products because the varieties range from soft to hard and can be used across a large number of products.
The bamboo cloth is a 100% biodegradable chamois for dusting and polishing and at the time of introduction in mid 2008, was the only 100% biodegradable chamois in the US market.
Check out more details at the Twist website.
Greenworks Natural Dilutable Cleaner
Clorox established the Greenworks brand in 2008 and now have a range of specialty household cleaning products. Many of them are certified to carry the EPA Design For The Environment logo and all come in recyclable packaging.
The biodegradable Greenworks Dilutable Cleaner is a concentrated 99.2% natural cleaner that helps remove household dirt, grime and grease. Dilutable cleaners are good because they are useful for times when you need a powerful cleaner in additional to a regular one and you don’t need two separate products. Less packaging is also required with dilutable (or concentrated) products which as an added benefit.
The full Greenworks natural cleaning range can be seen at the Greenworks website.
EcoTowl Bamboo
EcoTowl Bamboo is a paper towel replacement. It can also replace those throwaway wipes and other microfibre products made from petrochemicals. Just think of the number of trees saved and the added benefit of them not ending up in landfill.
The EcoTowls are made from 82% bamboo fibre and 18% corn. Of course the corn is GMO free as you would expect. Bamboo is becoming a choice material for many products now because it is an extremely fast growing renewable resource and exhibits natural antibacterial properties. The latter makes it perfect for this type of product.
The EcoTowl Bamboo is super absorbant and can be used wet or dry for everything from wiping up spills to simple dusting. It is also machine washable so you can use it over and over.
It was named as a finalist in the “Green By Design” category at the 2008 Gourmet Product Show.

Eco Wash Waterless Car Wash
Water restrictions are a fact of life in many parts of the world and one of the first things to be affected is washing cars. The Eco Wash Waterless Car Wash by Eco Touch is right in so many ways. Firstly is saves litres or gallons of water that usually ends up down the drains. And it is not only this untreated water that flows into rivers and streams, it is the harmful petroleum products and other pollutants then end up on and in our cars. This harmful run off is eliminated. With more people living in high density housing it can also be difficult to wash you car. Once again a waterless process means you can wash you car in the parking garage if you want.
The waterless car wash ingredients include water (so technically is it a waterless car wash?), surfactants derived from coconut and soy, water-based polymers, organic solvent from soy. It couldn’t be easier to wash your car either. Simply work a panel at a time by spraying the vehicle surface and microfiber towel and gently wipe across the surface to pick up the road grime. If you don’t have a spray bottle then buy the 22oz spray pack to begin with and then replenish with the 1 galllon container. The latter should be enough to clean between 20 and 50 cars and just think of the water saved and harmful run offs prevented. Don’t forget to recycle the container!
